Theotokos "the Burning Bush" Icon, 4x5"

This historic Russian icon depicts the Theotokos and Christ within the Allegory/Symbol of her as the Burning Bush. Mother and Child are surrounded by Representations of the Four Gospels. In her hand is a ladder, a symbol from the Old Testament vision of Jacob, along with a cave connecting both to Christ’s Nativity and Burial. All of these images speak of her centrality to the salvific work of her Son and how she, along with Christ, was prefigured in the Old Testament.
