This historical Russian icon of the Nativity of Christ is a moving, intimate portrayal of Christ's Incarnation in Bethlehem. Little is known about this rare icon other than it was painted in the 1700's in Russia. The icon depicts the nativity in a very human setting with Mary and Joseph celebrating the birth of Jesus in its traditional setting of a cave with watching animals overshone by the miraculous star's light.
