Christ Pantocrator (Rublev) Icon, 4x6"

This powerful icon was painted by master iconographer Saint Andrei Rublev at the beginning of the 15th century. It was the central icon of the Deësis (Supplication) row of the iconostasis of the Dormition Cathedral in Vladimir, Russia. In the mid 18th century the icons were sold to the town of Vasilievskoye, and in 1850 they underwent a restoration. After the revolution, the icons were placed in the Tretyakov Gallery, where they remain today.
