Fr. Augustus Tolton: They Might Be Saints

The inspiring story of America's first Black priest is the subject of Miracle Hunter Michael O’Neill's latest investigation. In mid-19th century Missouri, Augustine Tolton was born into slavery on a plantation owned by a White Catholic. Baptized into the Catholic faith, he survived the chaos of the Civil War, overcame obstacles both inside and outside the Catholic Church, and became a humble priest and a model for us all. Now, he's on a path to become our first African American saint.
