The 5th Monday of Lent

From the collect of today’s Mass:

O God, by whose wondrous grace we are enriched with every blessing, grant us so to pass from former ways to newness of life, that we my be made ready for the glory of the heavenly Kingdom.”

The Light Is On

The Light Is On  is a wonderful resource for this Lenten time of personal spiritual renewal.  Check out the website for many resources on parishes and times for confessions if you can’t make Wednesday evening.

The Light is On is an initiative of the Archdiocese of Washington and the Diocese of Arlington where all Catholic churches across the DC metro area are open for quiet prayer and Confessions on Wednesday evenings throughout Lent.

Want to make things right? Now is the time.

For many of us the Sacrament of Confession can be scary and even embarrassing. We may be too nervous or consider ourselves unforgiveable. Yet with confidence Pope Francis reminds us:

“How many times in my pastoral ministry have I heard it said, ‘Father, I have many sins,’ & I have always pleaded, ‘Don’t be afraid; go to him; he is waiting for you; he will take care of everything.’ We hear many offers from the world around us, but let us take up God’s offer instead: his is a caress of love. –Pope Francis, Homily, Basilica of St. John Lateran, Divine Mercy Sunday, April 7, 2013.
